1. Sealing
If you do not intend to use an essential oil recently, do not unpack it. Essential oils are volatile, especially monoterpene essential oils, such as citrus essential oils, which are highly volatile and easy to oxidize. Therefore, choosing a well sealed essential oil bottle can prolong the shelf life. The essential oil bottle with inner cover is more suitable for long-term preservation of essential oil than the essential oil bottle with dropper.
2. Avoid light
If you always use essential oils, be sure to store them away from light, because some components of essential oils are sensitive to light and the sun will deteriorate them. The correct way is to use dark glass bottled essential oil, which can make the essential oil you are using not deteriorate so quickly.
3. Try to keep the temperature constant
The temperature affects the movement speed of essential oil molecules, and the essential oil should be stored away from high temperature; However, if you put it in the refrigerator in summer and take it out in winter, this sudden rise and fall in temperature is also easy to deteriorate the essential oil, so try to keep the storage temperature of the essential oil at 18-25 degrees.
4. Glass bottle preservation
Because the essential oil is easy to react with plastic, the composition of the essential oil liquid will change. Therefore, the essential oil must not be stored in plastic bottles.
The essential oil we usually use is basically the compound oil mixed by the merchant. Try to use it up within 3 months after opening. Even for daily use, we should still follow the principles of sealing, avoiding light, constant temperature and glass bottle.
